"Praying for Peace"

Mixed-Media Collage

This is a mixed media piece honoring the humanitarian sacrifices to the catastrophes that result from the conflict between Afghanistan and Iran. The woman’s body is portrayed with water-color paints, and the background is a collage of torn up newspaper: each piece a part of an article on the topic.

"Reflection of Herself"

The woman in this acrylic painting is looking directly at the viewer, with a captivating stare. The indiscrete dark blue background is meant to create a puzzling feeling, accompanied by ponderment of this woman’s identity, a woman’s identity, as well as the identity of yourself.

“Reaching for anything and everything”

This is a graphite pencil drawing of the same pair of hands performing various peace-driven gestures. The hands symbolize a hopeful goal of tranquility, freedom, and mutual support - aspects that make up an ideal community that we should strive for.

"Oh so many layers"

The matryoshka, a traditional Slavic figurine symbolizing complexity of an individual, represents the many layers that may make us up. A water-color painting, this piece’s bright hues symbolize the colorfulness of human existence, and all the diverse layers within.

“Human life: a road trip”

This piece was drawn with black ink pens on paper. The composition of the piece is based on a photogram taken on the train from New York, to Philadelphia. The man and woman on the train are glimpses of human day-to-day life. Whether their trip was mundane, or a result of extraneous circumstances, this image represents the journey that is life.

“A floating nude”

This piece is a graphite pencil drawing on paper. The piece is meant to destigmatize the perception of “nude” artwork, which is thought to often involve portrayal of a woman. Rather, this particular piece does not attach a gender to the person portrayed, and simply captures the human form in restful health and vitality.

“The Earthly Divine”

This piece is a water-color painting of a landscape, combining a mountain range, green life, and a body of water. The mystical fog surrounding this mountain adorns the beauty of earth, which is captured by this piece.

"West Washington"

This is a photograph taken at a beach in Challam Bay, Washington State. This bay got it’s title from the Klallam word, meaning “the strong people”. Not only a beautiful national landmark, but a significant ode to America’s society, this point where the west coast meets the Pacific Ocean is a treasured region.

“The Colorful Wings of Peace”

The two little birds in this oil painting done on canvas represent the civilians of Russia and Ukraine. Both sitting near each other on an olive branch, amidst chaotic explosions, the birds represent the attitudes of the people towards the conflict. Both Ukrainians and Russians have a shared history, and a shared goal for peace and coexistence, and this piece serves as a humanitarian protest against the crude decisions of the government.

“Agility”

This pencil nude drawing captures the human body in motion. The three overlapping poses of the woman are meant to capture the dynamic function of people. As the model in the drawing performs her primal-looking dance, we are reminded of our own full potential and capabilities.

“Inner flame”

This is a color-pencil drawing capturing the beauty of a woman. The wavy pencil strokes on the woman’s body bring attention to circulation of divinity and life within her, rather than fixating on superficialities. The woman is in “camel” pose, opening her heart and solar plexus chakras to the world, while being fueled by a fire within.

“A Winter Wonderland”

This is a photograph of a powder snow day in Colorado. You can almost feel the crisp air by looking at the photo, which highlights a “perfect” day. Though there are many ups and downs in healthcare and society, “perfect” days in nature are reminders of why it is important to work towards sustainable goals for communities.

“Self-Portrait in Vines”

This is a mixed media piece, portraying the girl in black-and-white, while incorporating a color pop with colored pencils. The girl is drawn with graphite pencil, and she is entangled in the both adorning and constraining vines, which are brought to life in pink. This represents the chokehold that societal standards have for women: beautification norms that are both embraced and resented.

“Rebuild Life”

This image shows a beautiful photograph of a dock in the Caribbean, taken on a Canon Camera. The men in the background of the photo are fishing on this clear day, and enjoying life despite destruction after consecutive hurricanes and tropical storms.

“Child of the sea”

This black and white photograph features a young boy exploring a fishing boat. This piece represents inspiration, curiosity, and hopefulness for happy and successful future generations.

“West coast environmental health”

This photograph shows a lake in South Oregon. Particularly over the past few years, the west coast has underwent horrible wildfires, which impact the health of the environment, as well as the people inhabiting it. This image captures the importance of savoring healthy regions of our world.

“Green”

This photograph shows that amidst the mysterious allure of this swamp, the environment whispers harmony and balance, reminding us of our connect to nature. Yet, as humanity's footprint deepens, the swamp's resilience is tested, its murky waters reflecting the toll on our shared ecosystem. Let us tread lightly, for in protecting these wetlands, we safeguard not only the swamp's hidden wonders but also the very foundation of our own well-being. In this tangled, enigmatic realm, the health of both swamp and humanity intertwine, a reminder that our choices ripple through the world around us.

“Trail to Tranquility”

In the heart of the woods, a serpentine trail beckons, weaving through nature's sanctuary. Here, the symbiotic dance between the forest and our well-being comes alive. With each step, we inhale the crisp, oxygen-rich air, a natural elixir invigorating our lungs and spirit. The rhythmic hike awakens not just our muscles but also our souls, a reminder that amidst the trees, we find solace, balance, and the enduring connection between nature and human health.
